Frequently Asked Questions

Is Rainbow Warrior Roundup an official ManKind Project event?

No. Rainbow Warrior Roundup is an independent gathering, organized by and for initiated GBTQ+ Warrior Brothers. While all participants are members of the MKP community, the event is not sponsored, governed, or produced by the ManKind Project.

Why is initiation required to attend?

The gathering is built around a shared foundation of experience, language, and agreements that come from completing the New Warrior Training Adventure. This shared context helps create a safe, intentional, and mutually understood container for everyone present.

I’m not initiated yet—can I attend?

Not at this time. Attendance is limited to initiated GBTQ+ brothers. Those interested in attending future Roundups are encouraged to explore MKP trainings as a first step.

How long is the event?

Rainbow Warrior Roundup is a four-day, three-night gathering, typically held annually in early spring.

Where do we stay?

We gather at Land of My Grandfathers, which offers a mix of indoor lodge accommodations and camping space. Lodging is communal, and details are shared in advance so you can choose what best supports you.

Please note: Linens are not provided, so plan to bring bedding, pillows, or sleeping gear appropriate to your accommodations.

Are meals provided?

Yes. All meals are provided and shared together. Coffee, tea, water, and basic beverages are always available.

This is not a snack-focused event, so you may wish to bring a few personal snacks if you have specific needs or preferences.

What facilities are available?

Participants have regular access to bathrooms, showers, drinking water, and shared indoor spaces throughout the event. The setting is nature-based and rustic, while still offering essential comforts.

Is Rainbow Warrior Roundup a sober event?

Yes. Rainbow Warrior Roundup is a substance-free gathering. We ask all participants to support a clear, grounded, and respectful environment by refraining from drugs and alcohol during the event.

What should I bring?

A suggested packing list will be shared closer to the event. In general, plan for:

  • Clothing for both indoor and outdoor activities
  • Comfortable layers for early spring weather
  • Bedding or sleeping gear
  • Personal toiletries and medications
  • Any items that help you feel grounded and comfortable

What should I expect overall?

Expect a blend of connection, personal work, ritual, play, and celebration within a GBTQ-affirming container. The gathering is designed to be intentional, supportive, and alive—held with care by the community.

Can you accommodate special dietary needs?

Yes. We make a sincere effort to accommodate common dietary needs and restrictions when advance notice is provided. During registration, you’ll have an opportunity to share relevant dietary information so our kitchen team can plan accordingly.

What is the food like?

Meals are all-natural, thoughtfully prepared, and cooked on site. Our kitchen team takes pride in offering gourmet, nourishing meals made with care and intention. Food is an important part of how we support the work, the play, and the community throughout the weekend.

What else should I bring? (Especially for the theme)

In addition to your basics, you’re invited to play with this year’s theme: Unleash Your Inner God / Goddess. Many participants enjoy bringing:

  • Costumes or themed attire for Saturday evening’s Nice Dinner
  • Outfits, accessories, or creative expression for the No-Talent Show
  • Something bold, playful, or mythical for the Parade of the Party Animals
  • Personal items that help you embody an archetype—subtle or extravagant, serious or camp

There’s no “right way” to do the theme. Whether you arrive in full divine regalia or with a single symbolic element, you’re welcome to participate at whatever level feels authentic and fun.
